Medicare Supplement Insurance
By:
Jason Cunningham
Medicare Supplement Insurance ( aka
Medicare Medigap) is for those age 65 and over. The
main purpose of a Medicare Supplement Policy is to fill in the gaps of
coverage not automatically provided by the Federal Government's Medicare Program. There are
a number of options offered by different plans. Careful consideration should be
taken when buying a Medicare Supplement policy.
Each state
must offer at least the Medicare Supplement Plan A. However in participating states,
Plans B through J may be available for those who are going to purchase a Medigap policy.
Plan A is the basic plan and Plan J is the most comprehensive Medicare
Supplement Plan. Also you are guaranteed to be approved for a Medicare Supplement policy if you apply within
six months after becoming eligible for Medicare Part B.
Remember it is important to seek coverage
during your guaranteed period; otherwise, you may subject yourself to full underwriting
by the insurance company.
Disclaimer: Always consult a financial profession
to determine what coverage is right for you.
