The Browns Lose LeCharles Bentley for the
Season
By: Jason Cunningham (7/27/2006)
It only took a play
into training camp before tears of sorrow streamed down the faces of Cleveland
Browns fans. The team's prized off-season
free agent signee, LeCharles Bentley, from the Cleveland area, torn his knee. It
is such a disappointment.
The two-time Pro Bowler, Charles Bentley probably dreamed of
this very moment. Bentley graduated from Cleveland St. Ignatius High School and
attended The Ohio State University for college. When Bentley was signed by the
Browns, the team penciled him at center. Now, the team will have to cope without
his services for this season.
Bentley has established himself as one of the NFL's premier
centers. He was just the man the Browns needed for the job. While the Cleveland
Browns had a 1000 yard rusher in Reuben Droughns, he struggled to make the
mark. The leadership and blocking ability of Bentley was supposed to produce
more running yards. Hopefully, Bentley returns to the Browns in 2007, without
missing a beat.
