Combining Your Auto and Home Insurance

By: Jason Cunningham

There is a certain advantage to having your auto and home insurance under one umbrella.  You are probably eligible for discounts by having your auto and home policies with one company. Many of these discounts will be discussed by an insurance agent, as you look at different options for coverage.

Finding the right agent to service and expedite your concerns is important. There are however other things to consider, which may not easily come to mind. Your auto insurance agent may also attempt to get your homeowners business. You may be eligible for an additional 5- 10% discount on your auto insurance policy, just by  purchasing your homeowners insurance through their company. The combined saving may actually be cheaper, than what you are currently paying for your auto and homeowners policies. The savings may allow you to get better coverage,  and better protect you and your family from injury and liability.

If this is your first auto or homeowners insurance policy, do not worry. A good agent will alert you to these discounts that their company offers.  If this agent does a solid job of field underwriting, the price of your approved policy will be 99.5% accurate, when you bind coverage.
