The First Preseason NFL Game: Eagles versus
Raiders
By: Jason Cunningham (8/5/2006)
Another season of NFL is upon us.
When the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders square off tomorrow, it will be
the first NFL Preseason football game of the year. It is the annual Hall of Fame
Game held in Canton, Ohio.
On this weekend, the first
African-American quarterback Warren Moon was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
It is only fitting that both teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Oakland
Raiders have starting African-Americans quarterbacks: the Eagles' Donovan McNabb
and Oakland Raiders' Aaron Brooks.
More often, the first NFL
Preseason is a painful experience to watch. You might see the starters for a
quarter or two, then it's a guess, who might show up on the field. Still, I am
happy as a lamb that NFL action is back. Sometimes, I wish the NFL season lasted
all year around, but that's being too greedy.
