Intro to Online Insurance Agents

Welcome to the internet if this is
your first visit. You are in the insurance business because your goal is
to develop meaningful relationships and to become a trusted resource. Keep in mind
there is a certain portion of our society that gravitate to the world wide web
and use it as their number one source of information. Well as an insurance agent
you should not ignore these people! So let us talk more frankly about the
internet and your insurance base of customers.
Maybe you have recently thought about
extending your insurance agency to the internet. If so, then there are few
things to consider. You will need a website either built from scratch by a web
designer unless you are versed in html or other programs such FrontPage or
Dreamweaver. Choose the right web host from the very beginning; otherwise,
you could lose credibility not only with your clients, but other webmasters that
you market your site. If you are planning to build a large website, I would
recommend some type of virtual server, but this does not mean you need to buy an
expensive dedicated server right off the bat, unless you plan on writing 5000
pages by tomorrow. On the other hand, if your site is going to
remain under 1000 pages, a shared web hosting should do the trick.
After you build your online insurance
website the true challenge begins. How do you get someone to your site? Remember
the internet is nothing more than a dictionary. Each page of your online website
is voted upon by each page that links to it. Therefore it is important
not to link to sites just to make your website seem cool. So remember to
write web pages that illustrate a specific point. Stay on the topic; otherwise,
your page views may be lower than you expect. To get a general idea of how many
times a search term is requested on a monthly basis, type in a word at
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/. Besides the
traditional method of gaining visitors through search engines and word of mouth,
you can also advertise as a sponsor on a engine such as Yahoo or Google. You
will pay per visitor click if you were to sign up for advertising with either of these
search engine. However before you begin, please create a monthly advertising
budget and know exactly what you are going to market, whether it be life or
health insurance.
This is just the introduction. Start your
planning process by first getting a website built that represents your primary
objectives. Once this is accomplished, you must gain visitors to your insurance
website through the use of the search engines and advertise as a sponsor on
these engines when necessary.
