James Woods Story

The Online Movie Script (Play) by: Jason Barlow Cunningham

The story of James Woods describes the many triumphs and failures of a educated, young African-American male in his late 20's still trying to find himself. Woods is a very complicated, often aloof person who chooses to define himself by his experiences with people. The young accountant also finds the price of success is more than he bargained for, and graduating from a top college has not brought an easier life.

Most of the obstacles James Woods faces are of his own doing. Woods has yet to let go of the ex-finance, Danisha Smith. Fortunately for him, James' best friend Michelle Tanner watches over him as would a guardian angel. This special relationship with Michelle has been active since childhood, but never has experienced the separation caused by James' time in jail, the depression that oppresses him, and the attempt on his life.

While in jail, Woods finds comfort in a male role, a prison guard named Carl Woods Gibbs, the first since his father died. James also finds time to teach the inmates about life, and reveals his ultimate anger, why his brother Jerome has not contacted him in 10 years. It is Carl (Jerome) who must guide James into becoming a productive citizen after he leaves jail for a crime he did not commit.

Woods has many tough decisions: Whether to accept Carl after the truth is revealed that this is his brother Jerome? How do you deal with Michelle and what would he do if he loses her? Will James continue to dwell on his faults to the point he is unable to function as a productive person?

This story will cause you to bear witness to courage, denial, oppression, depression, and surprise anyone with the guts to continue when life gets rough because of your own omissions. Believe in James Woods.
