The Need for a Credit Card
By: Jason Cunningham
A credit card is an essential instrument to
establish good credit. Not all cards are the same. You should be careful,
when selecting one to fit your needs.
People need a credit card as opposed to
wanting one. Without strong credit, you may find yourself renting for the rest
of your life. You might also have to pay cash for all major purchases including
your
vehicles. When you hear stories about people without credit, they have never had
a credit card or a loan.
You can choose either a secured or unsecured
credit card. The secured card requires you pay a sum of money to fund your
maximum balance, before they will issue it. This type of card is usually obtained by
people who have some bad debt now or in the recent past. Unsecured cards require
no payment, except maybe a membership fee.
A credit card is only
as good as its uses. On trips, using a credit card is a smart alternative to
cash. If you are robbed, you will have no money. Many credit cards now can
issue you another one and replace the card with traveler checks. Making
purchasing and paying off the balance at the end of the month, shows that are
responsible and can help boost your credit score. You will eventually, be
eligible for more credit, as a result of using your credit card, in the right
manner. Later on
in life you may not need a card, but you will need one now, while you try to
establish yourself.
