Short Term Health Insurance
Short term health insurance is know as a good
filler if you find yourself in between jobs, or are looking for medical
health coverage that may be cheaper than Cobra Insurance. When you
separate from your employer, you need to consider all of your health
insurance options. If you've decide to be included on your spouse's group
health insurance policy, you might have to wait until the next open enrollment
period.
When you choose short term health insurance,
your out of
pocket expenses will normally include the following for covered expenses: a deductible and co-insurance (It pretty much resembles that of a regular health insurance policy). While the
short term health insurance policies usually does not cover pre-existing
conditions, its main purpose is to offer coverage for future ailments that could
occur. You and your spouse are usually eligible for coverage as long as you are
under the age of 65 and coverage is offered in your state. Also, generally dependent
children who are unmarried are eligible from 15 days to 19 years old (age 23 if
full time in college). Most short term health insurance plans are not renewable,
but may allow you to reapply after your coverage period is over. Short
term health insurance can be used when the kids are no longer eligible to
stay on their parents' health insurance plan because of graduation, age, marriage, or their new
job's coverage is not yet effective. Eligibility is based on your health
information submitted to the short term health insurance carrier.
