Should the Indiana
Pacers Make a Coaching Change?
By: Jason Cunningham (4/9/2006)
In three seasons as the coach
of the Indiana Pacers, Rick Carlisle and his team's record has gone down each
year. This year the Pacers are trying to hold the last week of the season, in
order to make the playoffs. However, no one is really talking about making a
coaching change.
It is clear the Pacers are
moving in the wrong direction. The season is almost over, and it does not appear
that the team will finish with a winning record. During mid-season, the Pacers
traded the cancer of the team, Ron Artest for Peja
Stojakovic. People thought this would solve the Pacers' woes. However, Peja
looks poised to test the free agency market this summer. The team is a mess.
Maybe, Coach Carlisle has lost control. Yet,
not many are talking about making a coaching change in Indianapolis. Everybody
knows Carlisle is a friend, former assistant coach, and teammate of Pacers'
President Larry Bird. If it was any other coach including former coach,
Isaiah Thomas, the people of Indianapolis would be begging for him to be fired.
