Most smokers are not happy with the premiums
they pay for life insurance. Smoker rates are definitely higher than
non-smokers. While many smokers just pay the premiums, year after year, there is
something you can do to lower your premiums.
Smokers seem to pay more for life insurance
than non-smokers. We will not discuss whether is it fair, however it is a fact.
These rates have angered many smokers. Some of them may have decided not
to keep a policy of themselves, but we do not recommend this.
Smokers do have options that can actually
lower their premiums. After one year of non-smoking, you can take a test through
your insurance company and if no nicotine shows up in your system,
congratulations you may now be received as a non-smoker at attained age. Some
policies without a preferred smoker designation, may allow you to be a preferred
non-smoker after five years of being clean.
There is no need to despair as a smoker. By
quitting, you can save extra money in your pocket and invest it elsewhere. It is
decision that you must make for yourself.
