There Is Life After Edgerrin James!
By: Jason Cunningham (3/13/06)
There are Indianapolis Colts' fans who are in mourning
today, but no one has died. Yesterday, former running back Edgerrin James signed
a four-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. The announcement was breaking news
in the Indianapolis area.
Yesterday, I thought somebody important had died when the
TV was interrupted for breaking news. However we learned that Edgerrin James
ended his ties with the Indianapolis Colts' organization. It was no shocker that
James would sign with another team but the Arizona Cardinals!
The Colts organization has no need to panic. They do not
owe James another dime. The new cap room freed up by Edgerrin leaving should
allow the organization to sign a good running back in the NFL Draft or through
free agency. Also, the backup running back Dominic Rhodes is no slouch.
Unlike my dad, I still believe the Colts will make the NFL
Playoffs without Edgerrin James. So nobody should be alarmed. Do not think the
Colts will tank in 2006.
