Why Are Insurance Agents So Important?
By: Jason Cunningham (3-1-06)
Some within the insurance industry feel that
their services are not appreciated. Regardless of the stress of today, you are
still the first line of defense in your client's financial future. It is you who
delivers those claims checks in the event of a premature demise or gives quality
advice, in regards to your client's retirement goals.
If need be, close your eyes and imagine if
your all of your associates decide to stop their insurance practice. Tomorrow
people will have to decide what insurance to buy on their own. There is no one
to remind them of the need for long term care or disability insurance outside of
work. A great deal of the population may not feel the need to have insurance
coverage outside of what is required by law; for example, auto insurance. These
actions could lead to severe economic consequences.
You are an important advocate in your
community, even if you only make $10,000 a year from selling insurance. The
constant reminders and phone calls to insurance and financial planning prospects
keeps their goals fresh in their minds. They might turn you down for a review of
their insurance policies, but there is good chance those individuals will read
them again. Sometimes you might not make a sale, but you plant seeds that
help educate others about general finances.
We should thank those who have
chosen to be insurance agents. It is a hard job. People will reject and try to
break your will. Yet your calling has allowed children of widows or widowers to
attend college without break the bank, because of careful financial planning.
You deserve to be considered in the same breath as one's doctor, lawyer,
or CPA.
