Why Do Insurance Agents
Avoid TV Advertisement?
By: Jason Cunningham (2-12-2006)
How often do you see a real
insurance agent appear in a TV advertisement? If you are like me, it is
maybe once a day, and the person is an independent agent with a well known
insurance company. In this age of technology, why are there few insurance agents
using the TV to advertise their products and services?
Is there a bigger media forum
than TV? I've always wondered if most insurance agents believe TV
advertisement is taboo? Are not the services of an agent just as important as
your lawyer or banking institution? Therefore, the relationship between the
client and insurance professional is often crucial; if the person is too avoid
financial ruin, as a result of premature death or accident or sickness.
Since your peers in the
industry do not use TV advertisement, you can take advantage of this untapped
media. TV is your opportunity to expand your insurance market without much local
competition. While the cost may also be a factor, TV advertisement can make you
recognizable and if people feel they know you; the more likely you will see
their business. If you believe TV advertisement will help your insurance
business, then you should call your local TV stations to check the prices. Also,
check with your general agent for the approval of the ad.
