Why Green Bay Packers' Brett
Farve Should Retire!
By: Jason Cunningham (1/02/2005)
Packers' quarterback Brett
Farve began his career as an Atlanta Falcon in 1991. He was traded to the Green
Bay Packers in 1992 and a legend was born. Throughout his 14 seasons as the
Packers QB, Farve has made two Superbowl appearances, including winning it all
in the 1996-1997 NFL Season.
Farve is a future Hall of Famer. He
could run for governor of Wisconsin and win by a landside. Brett might as well
own the state, because of his gusty playing since 1992. However, reality is
starting to sit in, as Farve has to decide whether to retire from the game of
football. Sure he could play a few more years and break some if not all of
Miami Dolphins' quarterback Dan Marino's records. He has already won
three NFL MVP Awards.
With the firing of longtime coach Mike
Sherman on Monday, it appears that Brett Farve days in Green Bay are numbered.
The team will not release Farve, but they have made it hard for him to come back
in 2006. Besides after the beating he endured this season, you would think Farve
would have already announced his plans to retire. Every week of this season, you
wondered who would be starting at running back and wide receiver. Even if Brett
decides to come back next season, I believe they might win 6 games.
Brett Farve needs to retire for his
own sake. We want to see you walk up to the podium, when you are enshrined into
the Hall of Fame. Everyone will always consider you to be the "gunslinger" of
football.
