Why People Should Not Worry About Texas' Vince Young's Test Scores

By: Jason Cunningham (4/7/2006)

It is amazing to me that people where concerned with University of Texas Vince Young's Wonderlic IQ test score. How this test predict success in the NFL. Also, the great Hall of Famer, Dan Marino did not ace the test.

I think it is pathetic that quarterback Vince Young is catching grief for his test score of 16 on the Wonderlic test. Dan Marino, considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, achieved the same score. So, should we assume that Young's NFL career will be marred by mediocrity?

The Wonderlic test is an IQ test. I took a practice test in the past, and my score was higher than average. Yet, Raiders owner, Al Davis probably will never call me to try out for the team. My high score does not qualify me to be a NFL quarterback; Young's lower score will not determine his success in the league. Vince Young appears to have a strong work ethic, and this evident from his style of play on the field. You cannot test for heart on paper!
